Green is the new black for fashion students
FASHION students have been proving green is the new black after displaying their creativity in an exhibition of recycled fashion at Golden Square shopping centre.
As part of their Warrington Collegiate courses, the BTEC Level 2 and National Extended Diploma pupils have designed a range of clothing made from recycled products including cds, crisp packets and teddies.
Laura Dowell, marketing manager at Warrington Collegiate, said: “Our students and staff strive to ensure that sustainability is at the heart of our work, which has led to us being nominated for a Green Hero Award in 2010.
“Students have been working to incorporate environmentally friendly textiles and recycled materials in all their work and are proud to work with Golden Square to provide these show-stopping eco-designs.”
The exhibition has been in the Golden Square as part of the ‘I’m Growing Up Green’ campaign which aims to inspire young people to become more eco-aware.
Shoppers and businesses are being asked to make a difference in April by turning down their heating.
