CrowdStar Launches Top Girl- Climb the Social Ladder of Fashion, Modeling and Dating

Engaging new social game breaks new ground by targeting underserved female gamers.

Press Release
BURLINGAME, Calif. - CrowdStar, one of the leading social games companies in the world, backed by Intel Capital and Time Warner, is looking to take social ladder climbing to a new level with its first mobile-only title, Top Girl. The game, now available for free download here, is the latest title from the company- living up to its promise of targeting mobile social gaming this year.

Top Girl is a completely new mobile title that targets the female gamer interested in shopping, fashion and modeling themes. The game, which is unconnected to the CrowdStar's Facebook game It Girl, leverages on the experience and assets CrowdStar built on Facebook. However, the game is not a companion product to CrowdStar's Facebook game.

"While resource management games appear to be succeeding in mobile social gaming, we felt that a role-playing game- especially for females- would establish a new category and opportunity for CrowdStar," said Blair Hamilton, Head of CrowdStar's Mobile Studio. "We leveraged our success with It Girl, but designed the gameplay and economy from scratch, specifically for a mobile device. We don't require Facebook or Facebook Connect to play Top Girl because we expect a different set of users to play this game."

Top Girl is a mobile role-playing game that leverages a virtual shopping mechanic and transforms users into mobile models. Through their fashionable avatar, gamers will climb the fashion social ladder, collecting money by doing modeling jobs, buying new outfits, and going to popular clubs. The game also has a dating feature, allowing users to flirt and snag a boyfriend who will give them gifts.

Recent studies have found that women make up almost 50 percent of mobile social gamers. CrowdStar believes the market is under-represented with current mobile gaming offerings.

"CrowdStar has always been an innovator. My co-founder, Jeffrey Tseng, and I were really delighted that Blair has paved an innovative path for CrowdStar into mobile while avoiding following in the footsteps of other mobile game developers", said Suren Markosian, Co-founder of CrowdStar.

Top Girl is live in the Apple App Store Today and available for download here. Initially, Top Girl will be available on iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches.

CrowdStar, which received $23 million in strategic backing from Intel and Time Warner last month, has also been using it's funding to increase internationally and rapidly expand its headcount. The company, which has brought brands like Old Navy to its Facebook games, is already in talks with brands and agencies about creative integration within Top Girl.
