Sarah Jessica Parker bowing out at Halston
By Evan Agostini, AP |
Now, however, the Sex and the City star will be able to lighten that load a bit since her days as chief creative officer of the Halston design house are pretty much done.
Once a style powerhouse in the '70s and '80s, the label has struggled to regain its standing as a relevant brand and to become viable financially. Halston brought on SJP to revamp the label and to serve as the face of the brand, as well as a designer. Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose wife Georgina Chapman runs fashion line Marchesa, also had a stake in Halston, which he is now distancing himself from, too.
Halston is facing mounting debt, but is focusing on its lower-priced line, Halston Heritage.
